About the Emperor Penguin

Emperor penguins, the biggest of all penguin species, live in Antarctica. Their feathers provide warmth and camouflage. They molt once a year and breed in winter. The female lays a single egg which the male guards while the female treks up to 75 miles to feed. The male and female then take turns parenting while the other treks to feed. Most chicks die in their first year; those surviving to adulthood live ~20 years.
